The Birth of Snoekie

I have never been one for doctors, medicine and hospitals.  From day one I wanted an all natural, non medicated birth.  accept for a few emotional times when I just wanted them to cut her out of me.

I was 37  weeks pregnant and still didn't have a doctor, midwife or location.  A friend told me about the Linkwood clinic, and walking in there I appointed the first midwife I saw.  Nziki Twane was the lucky winner.

A week before the actual birth, I had a false birth.  Man that was so embarasing! I had contractions, and me and mom drove to the hospital.  That night we slept in the car in the parking lot of the hospital. Just incase baby came.

14  January .. Valentines day!!  Please  God I don't want a valentines baby! How sad and cliche would that be!

That night at 02:00 I woke up thinking I just wet the bed.  Not cool.  As I get up to go to the toilet, water started gushing out of me.  I couldn't stop peeing! Then only did it come to mind ... my water broke.
I woke up my mom, and we were of to the hospital once again.

We got there at about 02:30, I phoned my midwife on the way, so she arrived shortly after us.  She checked me, and we decided I am immediatly going to get into the bath.

O by the way I am having a water birth.

At first it was cool, I told my mom I had period pains worst than this.  Then thing got a bit more serious, I was in allot of pain.  Luckily I had my amazing mother with me.  With each contraction she rubbed my back, and helped me relax.

By 05:00 there was still no baby, and I was dead tired.  This was it! I am going to bed!!  The nap did me good, I handled the contractions much better in my sleep.  I wok up again just before 7.  I told my mom to call the midwife, she checked me and I  told them it was time!!!

While walking to the bath, I fell down on my knees, I was numb and couldn't move.  Blood was streaming out of me!!  The nurse and my mom managed to get m to the bath.  I got in on all fours, but the midwife told me to rather turn around.  As I turned, out popped this blue wierd looking thing.  All I could hear was my mom saying "take your baby".

Without effort I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. That blue little thing was my first born. My new beginning. My life!!!

She was born just after 07:00, and by 10:00 I just wanted to go home.  But with paperwork and all that jazz we only got to leave at about 12:00.

We were welcomed home by our loving family!
